Mr. McDevitt is the president and founder of Modern Assistance Programs, Inc., Quincy, Massachusetts. Under the direction of Mr. McDevitt, Modern Assistance Programs provides mental health/substance abuse benefits management, alternative medical program design and implementation, and EAP services to 43,000 workers and their families throughout New England. Mr. McDevitt earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Boston College and a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology at UMass Boston. He is a Licensed Mental Health, Licensed Rehabilitation Counselor, a Certified Employee Assistance Professional and a Licensed Addiction Counselor.
Mr. McDevitt is a past recipient of the Massachusetts Alcoholism Counselors Presidents Award and was presented the Cushing/Gavin Award by the Labor Guild of Boston. Mr. McDevitt received the William F. “Bill” Callahan Award from National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors. Mr. McDevitt has spoken before numerous organizations on a wide variety of mental health and substance abuse issues.
Mr. McDevitt has a wide range of experience as a board member of Massachusetts charities. He has served as: Chair of the Board of Project Bread/ The Walk for Hunger, the President of the Board of Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Co-Chair of the Board of Friends of the Shattuck Shelter, Vice President of the Board of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, and as a founding board member of Citizens Schools. Mr. McDevitt currently serves as a consultant and Advisory Council member for Julie’s Family Learning Center in South Boston, Co Chair of the Board of the Arch Foundation and board member of the Paraclete Center.
Mr. McDevitt presently resides in Housatonic, Massachusetts with his wife, Suzanne M. Bump.
